Pivot or Yield
Having a plan in life and business is essential. For example, most of us don’t randomly leave home without a destination in mind. We typically leave knowing where we're headed. There may be some rare occasions when we walk or drive around aimlessly, but for the most part, we know exactly where we’re going before we leave home.
When enroute to our destination, we may encounter construction delays, detours, and various obstacles. We don’t usually turn around and return home. Most of us find an alternate route. Most of us, even when it’s inconvenient and takes a bit longer than expected, find another way to get where we planned to go.
The same principles hold true for life as in business. Yet, most business owners don’t know where they’re going in business. They seldom have a destination, let alone a plan to get there. They face one or two obstacles and quickly retreat, easily abandoning their journey.
Maybe it’s a lack of resolve or belief. Maybe it’s easier to take detours heading to the local grocery store because we’ve been there many times. But more first time business owners haven’t been where they want their businesses to go. They haven’t grown the business along those lines before and so when they face some challenges they find quitting more comfortable.
Today, Friday, June, 10, 2022, I am grateful that:
Herb and I got to have a weekly conversation. As usual, it was productive and insightful. I hope I don’t start to take that relationship for granted.
The connections I’ve made via social media are continuing to blossom. Relationships are generally more time intensive in the beginning, but they usually reap significant returns. Hoping this continues to hold true in these instances.
A little more work is trickling in. It’s more than before, but not enough to stay afloat. I’m still in the negative, but I’m making progress.
How do you deal with obstacles in business?
Do you stop?
Do you adapt and willing take detours bearing in mind your final destination?
Be Great. Be Grateful!!!
